About Us
Murphy's Garden Art is nearly and acre of residential garden sculpture, statuary, fountains and unusual plants. Inside, is our design studio focused on landscape design  for residential and commercial clients. You can park in the rear behind our 100 year old "arts and crafts bungalow" in the shade of one of the large oak trees. Feel free to wander around our garden for as long as you like. We have lots to see and our inventory changes weekly. You never know what new things we will have.

You will usually find 'Murphy' on the lot or in the studio. If you can not find some one to help you please knock on the front door or check in the out buildings.

Murphy, the owner and manager of Murphy's Garden Art has been the owner of several small businesses over the years including a plant and garden nursery a frame and silk flower shop and a silk screen shop. She maintains permanent residence in the North Georgia mountains where she keeps a 3000sf perennial garden and maintains a perennial nursery where she test plants for adaptability to our climate. Her design and landscape skills are excellent and she is happy to give you advice or answer questions about your garden any time. Most days you will find her in the garden shed wearing a hat and an old pair of jeans with flowers or something painted on them. Some times you will find her hiding behind a welding mask with sparks flying as she puts together another one of a kind creation.

Murphy's son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Michelle.

History
Murphy's Garden Art was opened in September 2004 as '1616 (Sixteen Sixteen) Gardens'.  The location was on the surrounding lot of a dilapidated 1920's Arts and Crafts Bungalow located just off the newly widened Atlanta Road. The house was literally falling apart and the land was covered with trash and overgrown shrubs and trees. The Murphy's spent several months clearing the land of debris and restoring the house on the inside before occupying it. We also added the iron fencing and gates to secure our yard. Throughout 2004 and 2005 Murphy added inventory and created outdoor spaces using the merchandise and plants as borders and focal points. In April of 2006 the name of the business was changed to Murphy's Garden Art in honor of 'Murphy' who has been the driving force behind the continued success of the business and is its most recognizable and memorable feature.

Future Goals
Our goal is to be the number one provider of unique garden art in Atlanta. We plan to specialize in "hard to find" perennials and water gardening essentials. We will also soon have one of the largest selections of fountains in Atlanta. If the opportunity comes along to add to our space we would like to supply special "earth-products" such as, mulch, colored gravel, large stepping stones, river slicks, Mexican beach pebbles, colored rocks, and recycled brick.
